The Importance of Accreditation
Laboratory accreditation is the process by which labs are evaluated and tested according to stringent and widely accepted criteria for quality, accuracy, reliability, and efficiency. The accreditation process is designed to ensure that laboratories provide reliable results, and to minimize the prevalence of testing errors. It is a significant tool in assuring the quality of environmental data and it lends credence to the results that come from accredited facilities. Laboratory accreditation is the best assurance that the data you are relying on was generated in a competent laboratory.

Environmental Expertise
Over the past 30 years, the professional staff at Metropolitan Solutions has provided a wide variety of consulting services to government agencies, law firms and building owners. The CEO of the company, David Spinazzolo, was selected by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be one of the 24 industry professionals to develop asbestos regulations as required by the U.S. Congress in the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA). These rules later became the basis for all state asbestos regulations.
The U.S. Department of State also used Metropolitan Solutions to train workers in Pakistan, Korea, and Russia in proper techniques for removing and replacing asbestos. Law firms have also used Metropolitan as a fact and expert witness when involved in litigation concerning the presence of asbestos in buildings.

The Metro Labs History
The Metropolitan Laboratory business unit began 30 years ago when we started analyzing facilities for the presence of asbestos in building materials as well as air samples that were taken during abatement projects. Our laboratory services evolved into providing heavy metal and water analysis for contractors who work on United States Navy Ships where accuracy of the analysis and a timely turn around period for the completed analysis are an absolute necessity for the U.S. military. Today, our business unit known fondly as Metro Labs, offers a wide range of testing that includes a full complement of tests for inorganic, organic and indoor air analysis. Typical clients include consulting firms, federal and state government agencies and private contractors. Metro Labs possess state accreditations as well as an industry accreditation (American Industrial Hygiene Association; AIHA).
